Jessica and Wes at Schramm Park | Gretna Engagement Photography | cb Yates

I wanted to post my most recent engagement session since it so accurately depicts the weather we’ve been having lately. This weather is ideal and I’d be perfectly content to have it this way year round. The foliage is just starting to change over to the autumn colors and I’m loving it.

I had the best time with this couple last Friday night. They had me cracking up many times. Especially at their celebrity couple name, “Wessica”. They quoted King of the Hill and The Office to get me laughing even more.

Both of them were so comfortable in front of the camera and especially with each other. This makes the session virtually stress free and gives me a chance to get creative with my shooting. That’s the thing I love about Schramm Park. I use the area frequently but there are so many unique little areas to shoot in that the photos from each session look so different.

Towards the end of the night we saw a masked visitor that wanted to join us from afar. Rocky raccoon let me capture a couple snaps and then he was gone. I thought for sure he’d want to stick around. I know Wes was hoping he’d sit in his lap for a couple photos!

Matt & Ashlie

My younger brother tied the knot this past weekend! It turned out to be a gorgeous day and I’m so glad since it was constant rain the two days before. I wasn’t the photographer for the wedding since I was in the wedding party but you know I couldn’t leave my camera at home. Their wonderful photographer, Colleen Dustin, captured the day perfectly but still let me play photographer when I wasn’t doing my bridesmaid part. I was so glad to hang out with her and spend time talking “shop”.

Matt and Ashlie’s day turned out beautiful. They both looked exquisite. Ashlie put lots of time into the planning and had every detail accounted for. I was really good at keeping my own composure until their vocalist sang . . . then it hit me. As the words were sung I felt the tears hit my cheeks and realized my baby brother is all grown up. He’s starting a new chapter in his life with a great girl.

As you can see, the reception was a complete blast. All of their friends are so much fun. There was never a shortage of people on the dance floor!

I also wanted to share photos of their “Engagement photo Guestbook”. I’ve been wanting to offer these to my clients and Matt and Ashlie’s engagement photos were a perfect chance to design one.

These will now be available to all my wedding clients. We’ll design a custom press-printed, leather bound book that has pages that lay flat to allow your guests to write a quick message to the bride and groom. Now you won’t just flip through your guestbook and throw it in a closet never to been seen again. These are a perfect way to showcase all your engagement photos and share them with your guests as well as providing them a place to write a personalized message.

Matt and Ashlie’s book went over great with all their guests. I was told there was a line waiting to look through the book at times. What a great little introduction into their lives right before their guests watch them take their vows as husband and wife.

Livin’ Part of Life . . . down on the farm

I’m excited to post photos of some of my favorite little photography subjects. I’ve photographed them for quite some time now and I’m thrilled their Mama trusts such an important job to me! I had to incorporate an Eric Church song in the title as it’s one of her favorite country artists. As does the owner of the beautiful farm where had our photoshoot! Stacy suggested we take photos out at her friends home and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. TONS of prime photo taking spots! We got lots of great ones from this session.

You can see we definitely enjoyed the “livin’ part of life” on this day. A big thanks to Shannon for being such a wonderful hostess and letting us have fun at her place. I really enjoyed lunch at the “Sour Mash” afterwards!

Stacy thanks for being patient as I proofed these photos. Since there were so many great ones you have a larger than average proofing gallery that I’ll have posted by this evening!

One very unique wedding | Tiburon Golf Course | cb Yates Photography

The wedding I attended Saturday was such a special one. There were so many unique touches to the day. Every guest that attended just had to feel love between not only the bride and groom but also their children. At one point during the ceremony I was *this* close to crying. The sand ceremony that united them as one big family was truly magical. I’ve never seen anything like it and I doubt I ever will again. The colored sand that each one poured into the large candleholder combined into a multi-colored depiction of their beautiful little family. How special that this will be in their new home and they’ll get to walk by and reminisce each day.

Thanks for having me be a part of your very loving and unique wedding day Lucas and Stef! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet you and your wonderful kids. You really have something special! I’m so glad you’re all enjoying it together.
