Baby “D”

Newborn photographs are a favorite of mine but even more so when I already know the parents from photographing their wedding. This good looking bride and groom sure made one good looking baby! :)

Meet the newest excitement in their life:

I have been waiting to use this new little prop for awhile now. How cute is a naked baby in a necktie?

And these eyelashes .  .  . gorgeous!

I enjoyed my viewpoint for this last image. Sure, we took some more traditional face forward portraits but I was drawn to the closeness in this image. A big, tight hug with all three members of the family in their beautiful home. The loving gaze they share on the new little guy is beautiful. Thanks for inviting me in to capture this special newborn time. We all know it doesn’t last long. :)

Amy + Cole, June 13th, 2009

Many Congratulatory wishes to Amy & Cole who were married on June 13th in Omaha. This was an absolutely beautiful wedding with such great details to enhance the day. Cole sent his new wife a surprise gift while she was getting ready. The trademark robin’s egg blue box gave a hint to what was inside. The handwritten card he sent with “wife” on the envelope was such a sweet prelude to their wedding day.

So many wonderful details to the day and I wanted to be able to share them without making this blog post too long. So here’s a little collage showcasing the details that made the day special. The butterfly release was one of my favorites! I was told it was good luck when one chose to land on Amy’s dress.

I was very pleased with the way their engagement photo/guest book turned out. They rocked their engagement photos!

I really enjoyed working with this wedding party. We all had a good time capturing these shots when Ollie the Trolley stopped at Zorinsky on the way to the reception. Thanks to you all for being patient with me while we got these images!

This is one of the best jumping shots I’ve got ever. Look at that air!

Amy & Cole, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I enjoyed being with you the entire day. That’s my favorite part of being the photographer, getting to witness the love and special moments between a bride and groom. Like I said on my Facebook status the night of your wedding, “Amy & Cole’s friends and family were amazing. You know it’s meaningful when the photographer starts crying during the toasts/speeches.” Which is the truth! Normally I’d feel silly getting emotional at a wedding I was photographing but not yours. The love between you two and from your family is inspiring and amazing. Cherish it, you’re so lucky! :)

Well hello beautiful

Introducing the most recent newborn I had the pleasure of photographing. Isn’t she beautiful? Shown here with her extremely proud, and very loving older sister.

And look at this beauty in pink, all wrapped up and ready to snuggle.

I was drawn to this exquisite, antique chair in the front room. So happy to be able to use it as a prop. I later found out this chair belonged to baby’s Great Grandmother.

This was such a beautiful, sweet family that welcomed me into their home. Thank you for sharing your new little bundle of joy with me!

The much anticipated “couch” session

I’m very happy to finally show off a great family portrait session utilizing my new prop . . . the flowered couch. I’ve been looking for something just like this for a long time. I scoured Craigslist but never found just the right one. Back in March, on an unplanned trip to Goodwill with a couple good friends, I found it. The colors were great, the price was fantastic, the only thing I worried about was talking my hubby into hauling it home and where were we going to put it? Well those issues are a thing of a past, now I just worry about hauling it to a shoot. Although Chuck has been great because he let me borrow the truck over a week ago to photograph this fun loving family. They were the *perfect* family to try this funky couch idea with.

I wanted a location with very tall grass to place this beast of a couch in. The kids didn’t mind tromping through the grass at all. Little “M” used it to tickle Mom and Dad.

This post is a long one because I couldn’t pick out just a couple to share.

After we grew tired of the outdoor furniture idea we went over to the pond to feed the ducks. Mom used this as a “treat” if the kids were good during photos. Didn’t have to mention it though because they were both well behaved. Come on, look at this little face below, Can you imagine her being naughty? I can’t. :)

And the last order of business for the morning was a couple updated head shots for Mom. She is a fabulously talented artist. This girl is so dang creative. I always feel invigorated after I get done talking new ideas with her. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside too. Completely grateful to call her my friend.

Check out her etsy store to see some of her creations!

Blue eyes & big smiles

This little blue-eyed beauty turned one at the beginning of May. I had the pleasure of photographing her in the family’s beautiful backyard a couple Saturdays ago. Mom had her dressed in the most adorable outfit when I arrived. These great bright colors were the theme of her first birthday so it was fitting that we utilized some of the party decorations in the pictures too.

Check out those cute little toes! Also, I love the great picket fence behind her. Perfect backdrop.

After a quick outfit change we got captured some family shots too. I’m so jealous of these great rocking chairs on their front porch. Such a great little nook to spend time together as a family.

This last shot was taken right in the front doorway of their beautiful home. Mom and Dad have done a lot of work restoring and decorating and it shows. Mom has such a wonderful eye for design! It’s the perfect place for little “E” to grow up in.

Thanks for inviting me out to your home. I really enjoyed getting to know your entire family, Grandparents and dogs included! I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my morning :)
